ESC kay causes crashes V16 1.05 Win 8.1

Using the ESC kay to exit commands causes BC to crash all the time , does anybody else have this issue ?? I have used Acad for 20 yrs and have always used ESC to exit commands etc. so my  brain hits it all the time  . I hope this is an issue that can be fixed easily , I like the program but this is a kill the deal for me .

  • Hi Mike,

It is very difficult to provide any advice based on the information you've provided. I recommend that you persist with the support request process, providing as much information as you can on your issue. This topic in the Knowledge Base outlines the additional information that can assist with solving issues like these.

  • Does the problem also occur in 2D wireframe mode?
  •  Just hit the ESC key at any time and see if it crashes , I think it crashes because it is in the middle of a command and  has no exit for a hard stop , I crashed BC doing dimensions also , going from wire to any rendered view and hitting ESC crashes the program on my computer
  • @ Mike:
I have had a few Escape related crashes. But in all cases these were caused by my (not high-end) graphics card while in BIM mode.
Hitting the Escape key multiple times seems to play a role. I have not experienced this while in 2D wireframe mode.
Have you checked your drivers (_redsdkinfo command)?
  •  I seem to have gotten it to not crash now ( Support suggested I create a new profile and that stopped the crashing so far ) BUT my refresh/redraw rates from wireframe to render are horrible ( most likely a crappy video card ) I have an all in one Dell inspiron 20 3043 with built it video , I tried installing latest drivers with no luck. I have a 5-10 sec. delay from modeling to wireframe

Any ideas on how to speed this up ?

I have an All in one computer so it has crap graphics , I have gotten is to not crash so that helps , any tricks to speed up the graphics ?? I run almost exclusively in 3D

    Try setting:
    • AntiAliasScreen = 1
    • MTFLAGS = 3
These can be found in SETTINGS

As Roy stated, REDSDKINFO will give you details on your current graphics, and if there is a more recent driver available, will provide a link for download.

Certainly for 3D work a dedicated graphics card would help. BricsCAD minimum system requirements in the knowledge base lists the cards supported by Redsdk
