rectangle

 Hi

has anybody tried to draw a rectange in Mac Version 16.1.08?
So I choose the rectange by mouse. Click in the drawing and type for example 10,20. This doesn´t work at all. The second value is ignored.
I the windows version it works as it should.

  •  For me it works typing 10 > TAB > 20 > ENTER
  •  :-)

So easy.  It took me hours searching tutorials. Finally I had the idea to try it under Windows and it worked as I learned it in the training. I was already afraid to have Alzheimer.

  •  Hi Jos

I use German language. What means "prompt menu" in German? I tried "Eingabemenü" which doesn´t work.

  •  In my settings it is set to "0". Nevertheless 10,20 isn´t working. But 20 TAB 20 is doing the job

  •  By using the icoon, i also have to do the Command sometimes twice before the program respond.
I usualy use the short Command   'rec'  and than i don't have This problem.

  •  Is there any way to draw a rotated rectangle ?
Other call it 3-point rectangle, where :

    1st point = origin
    2nd point = direction/angle + length
    3rd point = width
  •  Same for the box tool.

like when you have an underlaying site plan and want to quickly create
the geometry of the surrounding buildings.
No matter if 2D black and white plan only or 3D model.
  •  Rotated rectangle: (Mac)

Type  'rec'  from Rectangle - enter - than type  'r'  from Rotate - enter -  give first point for exam. 0,0 - enter - give length - tab - give width - enter - give angel - enter

  • Wow, that is quite tedious.
    But thanks, it works.

Also for the normal rectangle in XY direction, I feel much more convenient by the way other Apps use,
explicitly separating the steps of creation. So I 80% use the rotated rectangle always anywhere.
(Which needs an extra "R"+ENTER here)
    Like :
    1. set origin Click
    2. set 1st length ENTER
    3. set 2nd length ENTER
Opposed to Bricscads way, where needed to to cycle through values by TAB and finally switch to Enter key.
You have to concentrate on which axis is currently active. If it is not the axis you expected, you have to either
switch values in your brain or do a cursor position correction or cycle through TAB.
    Each is tedious.

But drawing a rectangle here always means to be limited to XY axis first.
For the rotated option here, the difference of setting the rotation at the end, opposed to others solutions setting
the rotations at the beginning, is that this way you can't match the length of your underlaying rotated background
geometry - you have to estimate the proportions and maybe correct again later.
