How to Parametrically Rotate Objects Around X or Y Axis in BricsCAD? Hi everyone,

I’ve been working with Dynamic Blocks imported from AutoCAD into BricsCAD for quite some time now. However, with BricsCAD introducing parametric blocks and parametric functionality, I’ve been planning to create new blocks directly in BricsCAD as parametric blocks.

The challenge I’m facing is that I can’t find a way to parametrically rotate a 3D solid around the X or Y axis. I know that the PARAMETRICROTATE command allows rotation around the Z axis, so as a workaround, I’ve been creating nested blocks that include the solid I want to rotate.

The problem is: when I insert the block with the nested block into the drawing, I can only adjust the parameter attribute in the Block Editor—not directly in the drawing.

Is there a known workaround for this, or am I missing a command that would let me parametrically rotate objects around the X or Y axis?

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, community!

Best regards, Matthias

  • Hello.

One way of working would be to edit the main block and define a user parameter.
Then, set the expression of the rotation parameter in the nested block to be equal to the newly defined parameter.
    Then, save the main block.

At this stage, when editing the previously defined parameter of the main block, in the Properties panel, for instance, the rotation parameter of the nested block will adjust accordingly.

However, the rotation grip is no longer available, with this approach.
