Export IGES / IGS

I have a cupboard door panel which I made in Mechanical which is made up of 5 individual parts. I have Bricscad communicator to Export to IGS/ IGES. I can import IGS files straight into my Press Brake but the Press Brake wants each part to be a separate file. What is the easiest way to export to IGS. Can this be done in one hit similar to EXPORT ASSEMBLY TO DXF or do I have to export each individual part at a time? What ever way how do I do it?

Thanks for any help

James

I'm not an expert on mechanical, but if you make each item a separate component. You can do this from within your current drawing, then you can navigate to each component and export the igs ? (All components can be made internal or external. An external component is kind of like an xref and an internal component is kind of like a block.

  • As long as all items have been converted to sheet metal then export assembly to dxf should create seperate "unfolds" to 2D DXF files.

That being said, the image puzzles me a bit as it does not look like a proper unfold with bend lines etc.
If the 3D sheet metal model is sent to the pre-/postprocessor (i.e. cutting software and bending software) then it should be in its final form as one piece (i.e. not 5 separate objects) and the software should then take care of the unfolding and bending instructions for cutting and bench press respectively if these are connected in a workflow. Unless you are using a die press where a die/mould is used to press the metal into shape.
