Import of large STP files
Hi everyone,
We are currently using BricsCAD in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment and are experiencing issues when importing large STP files. For example, a 650 MB STP file fails to import on the VDI setup.
Interestingly, the same file can be successfully imported on a local BricsCAD installation, although the process takes around 3 hours to complete.
Has anyone had experience using BricsCAD on VDI, particularly with large STEP files? Are there known limitations or best practices for optimizing performance in such environments?
Thanks in advance for any insights or suggestions!

Could it be a memory assignment issue with the VDI?
Another, more likely, issue is that you are basically working over a network connection and most desktop CAD software is not designed for that and if there is even a tiny drop in your connection the import may fail. If you are trying to import a STEP file on your desktop into BricsCAD within the VDI this could be the issue. Especially with such large files and long import times the stability of your network connection is very important.
e.g. Onshape is server based CAD and is designed to handle such things because the files are on the server as well so network issues do normally not cause much trouble, BricsCAD and the likes (including AutoCAD) are not designed for this.
