dwg file modification date changing on just opening some files

This does not happen on all dwg files. The modification date as seen in Windows Explorer immediately changes when I open some dwg files. This is annoying because I use the file's modification date to see when I last changed it.

Anybody know why? Can this problem be fixed?

Possibly related, some drawings (not all) stay dirty even when I have just saved them. By 'dirty' I mean that there is an asterisk next their name in the tab above the graphics area. The asterisk disappears on save then returns within a second.

My setup is Windows 10 home with Bricscad Pro 25.2.05.

  • It's infuriating, destroying info, that last modification date is (or sometimes? not sure) just by opening a file (who wants to know that?). There are other kinds of date that can be set up as columns within Explorer, but it's a mess.

  • If it's an older drawing file containing objects from an AutoCAD vertical, such as Civil 3D, then opening the drawing will cause an update of these objects to the latest version, modifying the drawing.

Otherwise I would be checking any LISP or other third party applications aren't causing the problem.

As a last ditch attempt can save the date & time, within the dwg, say when you do a save or close using a reactor, I use Ldata for saved information. Can provide the Save or Close reactor lisp.
