Updating Section

When creating a section from a 3D model the 'Update Section' command is used.

If I direct it to an existing drawing that has no "A1" tab in it, I get the message "missing layout "A1" in drawing C:\Onedrive\etc…"

How do I change the 'Update Section" command to locate the section to the "Layout1" tab on an existing drawing?

    Hello.

    When creating or updating section view, the software uses the settings in the sheet set that is associated to the projects.

    If there is no sheet set associated, a default one is created.

    If, for example, the main drawing - the one with the 3D model - uses metric measurement, then the sheet set will use sheet-metric.dwt as the sheet template layout, and A1 as the default layout where the views are placed.

    With your test, it seems that the default settings are used.

    The section view is still created, but because the A1 layout is missing, a warning message is issued.

    One way of working could be to use the Sheet Set manager and edit the settings of the sheet set associated with the model.
    In the Sheet Creation category, you could choose a different template and a different layout.

    This setting could also be done prior to creating section views.
    Whit this approach, the warning message will no longer occur.
