V26 under wayland crashes when visual style is other than 2wireframe

Running V26 under Opensuse Tumbleweed with an Nvdidia card.

When a 3d model is displayed in 2dwireframe all works as expected, if the visual style is change to anything other than that, it crashes.

Any hints on how to trouble shoot this problem?

  • Hello,

From what I encountered on my end (on Ubuntu), it's an issue with BricsCAD on Wayland.

Some people managed to fix this using the open source Nvidia drivers or older versions of the drivers.

On my end that did not fix it and I had to use xorg.

  • Thanks for comment, Eduard.

I am using the opensuse nvidia-open-driver.

I will change to X11 to use Bricscad until this is resolved with Wayland.

  • I can confirm that BricsCAD 22, 25 and 26 are crashing on several machines with Nvidia cards as soon as the GUI is going to be drawn when the session uses Wayland.

As the desktop environments that still support X11 are becoming rare, the Wayland-problem is growing more and more serious. Out of security reasons there is no chance that Windows 11 will ever be used for our CAD work, so we depend on BricsCAD running under Linux.
