BTW, Octave based in San Francisco, is a mental health company. That certainly would in interesting, if they bought BricsCAD. Not sure if there’s a lot of synergy, though a therapeutic chat-bot might be helpful in some cases

Oh gotcha, well I guess this is a division change then so nothing new here to see. Thanks very much for the information.

Oh, there goes perpetual licensing.

The website still shows the ability to purchase a 'Lifetime Perpetual' license, though with new purchases you can only load it onto one computer (instead of having a 'backup' on another computer/laptop which they allowed until about a year ago or so).

BricsCAD should be more like ARES Commander in the regard you can have any number of computers with the app installed on them but only two active at a time. The user can easily turn off and turn on application access on the owner's computers from the Greabert portal.

I think that's been the main gripe since they changed the EULA. If you bought before (whatever the date was) and continue to pay your Maintenance you can still (legally) have the two installations; if after that date you can legally only have one installation.

You mean if I bought before that date but don't pay any more subscriptions, I can only have one installation? Bricscad still 'phones home' and gets told No?

Tom - that is something I couldn't answer. From my reading of the EULA (and I am NOT an attorney - take it with a grain of salt) if you have a legal perpetual license (say V21) prior to that date - regardless of whether you now have maintenance on it - you would still be able to legally have it (and use it) on two computers. If you bought it after that magic date, regardless of maintenance or not you are only legally allowed to use it on ONE computer. Maybe someone who is more versed in this can shed better light on it.

Thank you - and yes I have my own box of grains of salt!

It's not depend on Maintenance indeed, just on a date when you have purchased a license - before of after 17 March 2025.
"In the event that you have purchased a single license, you may install and use one (1) copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, for a single operating system, on a single computer.
For single licenses purchased before 17 March 2025: you keep the right to have a copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on a second computer used by you, as the primary user. This additional copy is for backup purposes only and may not be used concurrently. This right applies to versions purchased before 17 March 2025 only and not to any new licenses purchased. Any licenses purchased from 17 March 2025 may only be installed on a single computer."1 -
Thanks for that - how it's gonna be for many, I think.
