Went downgrading step by step until AMD Software 21.3.1
and Bricscad works again.
So the culprit are any AMD App drivers above 21.3.1 WHQL like
21.4.1 and latest 21.5.1.
Seems like, no Problem with Windows Wednesday Updates.
Already filed a SR …
OK, the latest Driver was an "optional" driver.
So I went down to the last recommended WHQL driver (21.4.1) and restarted
my PC and even "repaired" Bricscad V21.
But I still get the same message and Bricscad disappearing from screen.
Not sure wh…
There are 2 things.
INSUNITS and LENGTHUNITS
LENGTHUNITS are just for displaying.
If INSUNITS are wrong and you would need to change, you would also
have to scale the whole file.
LENGTHUNITS are misleading too.
Display Units changing all t…
And I have to update my Revit vs IFC experiences.
It is not clear what brings in more Solids.
IFC has better L/T-connections while Revit brings in Solids where
IFC has extra tessellated Meshes.
All Strange ....
I think for me Bricscad will be the solution in the future.
It goes into the right direction and develops reasonably fast.
For me the whole Solids and Direct Modeling stuff was pretty intuitive.
But beside the Autocad behaviors, there are even so…
I have no need for Sketchup imports but I get Revit Models or IFC exports.
So far IFC is the most lossless for me.
I get at least a few Layers in for further separation.
I get Materials in (although I have never seen them assigned in Bricscad so …
No offence but,
in some aspects I'm unrelenting.
--- No real chain dimension, just separate single dimensions
Not true. Is there a _dimbaseline and a _dimcontinue
I will look into these.
--- Editing and accessibility of nested Blocks
Not Sketchup but from Vectorworks or other 3D/CAD outside of the Autodesk universe.
Yes, there are quite a few simple and comfortable things that are far worse in Bricscad.
(no real chain dimension, just separate single dimensions ?, Editing and a…
I use Big Sure only since first public beta and there were issues.
I think the most Big Sur issues are already fixed.
(beside the long lasting things that might even happen in Mojave)
So I would not mind going Big Sur on Intel Macs.
It is more a…
I have 11.3 since public Beta.
It still did not fix the BiG Sur problems
(after wake up : external disk not thrown out properly, monitor awakes at wrong resolution, ....)
I see V20 crashing when I try to open an existing file from Start Screen.
Bricscad Windows instability could also have to do with my current project files.
But AFAIK I have all inconsistencies I could sort out already filed as Service Requests.
So it should get better with next releases.
I think there were lots of changes with Drawing Customization,
moving Section Settings into Viewport Settings (?) and such things.
For me that all is not very intuitive or easy to understand.
Maybe just filing a Feature or Technical Support Reque…
For the cavities, in Vectorworks I would assign a Component (BC = Ply)
to an invisible Class (BC = Layer)
That might not work in Bricscad, as
a) the whole Wall with Composition is still a single Solid and
b) it is very hard to get away the auto …
Well, there are still features missing in macOS and Linux version
that are really important to me like Revit Import or Datasmith Export.
Also I have still large problems with GUI customization on Mac and Linux.
For me Bricscad Windows feels like …
If it is an only Update, like V21.1.01 to V21.2.01,
you just install it and it will update.
If it is an upgrade, like from V20.2.01 to a V21.1.01,
you will also just install it, but you will need a new License number available
to activate it. W…
But my Beta notification was from February 25.
And the Final release note date said March 18.
I first thought it is because the localized versions (which I don't use)
came some time later. And I may get the Mail Notification from
I'm not sure about Microstation in the far past but I use to do it often in Vectorworks
and Modo, maybe Nemetschek Allplan, Archicad and C4D too (?)
I always thought this would be standard.
OK, if not available in Autocad, no wonder if it isn't i…
Maybe playing with GLSWAPMODE could help.
According to Settings, "GsDeviceType2D" is also using OpenGL
The only other option would be RedSDK, which is not recommended.
Not sure if OpenGL in 2DWireframe is only used for parts like cursor
2dWireframe is an unaccelerated video mode, that works even with unsupported graphics devices. While its speed does depend on the 2d-vector performance of the graphics hardware, ...
Is it only GPU 2D Vector performance, or does it also depend
Power setting plan is on high performance. I did not see a specific program setting though.
I am not so experienced in Windows but I was able to add specific Apps
in Windows Graphic (advanced ?) Options.
I think I also set or added all my 3D …

I would file a Service Request, I am sure they could help.
Where do I go to do that?
At the bottom right of Bricscads Website, "My Account", "My Support Requests
OK, a Nvidia GTX 1650.
And it looks like you have the latest driver installed, directly from Nvidia
(and not just something from Windows Update ...)
Nvidia Control Center also offers custom Graphic Settings for each
individual App. Some CAD Apps…
Pity, going to OpenGL "Wireframe" Mode would have been my first advice.
What is your dedicated GPU exactly now ?
Have you set Bricscad in Windows Graphics Settings to full power
and or suitable Energy Saving Settings ?
Beside, I think that is a …
