  • If I recall correctly, such a defect has recently been fixed in our internal code ... not yet published.
  • All those header files are Windows' CRT/MFC/ATL includes ... BRX/BricsCAD requires VS 2017 ("Visual Studio 2017 (v141)"), and 10.0.xxxx Windows SDK version: please check those settings.
  • Please register as developer, on main BricsCAD website (link is at the bottom line) : https://www.bricsys.com/en-us/applications/developers/ You will then get access to BRX SDK, and our online system.
  • found & fixed the problem with initial size of Preferences dialog - now works fine with higher scaling thanks for notifying about this !
  • Hello, now I could reproduce, needed a Logout + Login :-) Seems, the dialog elements are all properly scaled, but the initial size of the Preferences dialog is too small then (for the left-most tab) ... seems a layout recalculation is simply miss…
  • Hello, I also tried with 125% scaling, on my 1920 < 1080 display, with BricsCAD 19.2.03 (x64) revision 60650 ... still no problem here; do you have a multi.monitor setup (2 or more displays) ? many greetings !
  • Dear Richard, yes, see SAVETIME in Settings or at prompt, specifies the minuts for automatic save (automatic save is only done if the drawing is modified - so if you let it stand for 30 minutes, with SAVETIME=5, without doing anything, then nothin…
  • hmmm - have you tried (just for testing) with 100% scaling ? The strange thing is, that for me the dialog can not be made smaller than the initial, minimal size ... Which BricsCAD version do you use ? many greetings !
  • For the BLADE display and any setting - use "Save Preferences", as those are not automatically saved, by intention (to prevent mistakenly misconfiguration), so please use "Save Settings" once you changed any setting and/or GUI sizes. I also have Wi…
  • Unfortunately, the Preferences is a normal dialog, there are no scrollbars intended; seems, you have set your screen to a very large scaling factor ? I will review, maybe I will find a solution for this (at least, not to reduce to smaller than the…
  • Dear Karel, "CreateProcess()" is a Windows SDK function ... it is a bit difficult to retrieve the COM object for that particular instance then. The only way I see is to start via COM - using "CreateObject()" COM function ... this directly returns …
  • Dear Karel, from COM/NET, you could run "evaluateLisp(string)" where 'string' is just the (getPID) call ... should return a (long) integer back to caller; and fortunately, evaluateLisp() is a synchronous call :-) For the language version : I assu…
  • Hello, that "brx_log.txt" is used to report about problems in BRX API level, similar as for crash_report.txt; and in same way, "brx_log.txt" is located in the OS' "current directory" of the BricsCAD process, location can be specified in the "Execu…
  • Hello, yes, that file "brx_log.txt" is an error-reporting file of the BRX API ... as you also see from its content :-) This file is also saved in the "currently active OS folder", like the "crash_report.txt" file. many greetings !
  • Hello, "This file is also saved in the folder of the process that starts BricsCAD and not in the folder where the BricsCAD.exe is run. Is that corrrect behaviour?" Yes, that is also correct ... if you start bricscad.exe from another process; if y…
  • For the log file - see Settings, search for LOGFILEPATH For the crash_report.txt : it is saved to the "current OS folder", that is the folder as defined in your desktop icon/shortcut, as "Execute in" folder hope that helps ? many greetings !
  • Dear Michael, besides compatibility with thousands of 3rd party applications (which would all be gone, with your proposal) - there is no real "rectangle" entity defines for a dwg dtaabase ... if we would add such, then no other dwg compatible CAD …
  • Dear Wiebe, Windows GUI these days uses Unicode, as 2-byte-Unicode, Linux uses 4-byte-Unicode, hence covers much more characters. Linux usually prefers UTF8 for character encoding into 8-bit character sequenc, for characters using a code above 0xC…
  • Yes, there were some questions from 3rd party developers, to be able to to read/write binary and UTF encoded files ... and I also encountered some (more or less undocumented) features of AutoCAD AutoLISP (open) function to optionally specify / supp…
  • Dear Wiebe, traditionally, AutoLISP files are always ANSI ... if there are characters above 0x7F (which are the lower 128 characters, strictly ASCII defined), then those characters 0x60...0xFF (the upper 128 characters, ANSI) are then codepage depe…
  • Dear All, the VL BlackBoard storage is completely reworked - no problems with "doubles as string" anymore And as a nice side-effect : (vl-bb-ref) is ~30% faster now ... but was faster by factor 4 anyway, compared to recent AutoCAD many greetin…
  • Dear Roy, Dear All, besides that the problem with precision (max. 15 digits) of doubles, becoming more & more unprecise with each numerical operation, there is indeed a valid point from Roy's "point #3", so I will improve our BlackBoard - not u…
  • Dear All, the problem with precision for "double" is a generic problem - the 14th and 15th digits are unreliable in generally, also in AutoCAD :-) AutoCAD stores the doubles as doubles, so no problem there with double -> string -> double con…
  • Dear, yes, there are actually some glitches in BLADE with non-ASCII characters, in different operations; mainly caused by Scintilla's internal UTF8 character encoding, which causes some trouble in our Unicode environment. Majority of those proble…
  • Dear All, I'm working on a comprehensive BLADE documentation as part of the "Lisp Developer Support Package" (as CHM, HTML, PDF doc) ... I hope to have it end of February, and will post a notice here then. many greetings !
  • Dear Peter, I would assume, that compression level has no impact ... as unzipping internally is based on well-proven standard libraries, which does the decompression. many greetings !
  • "Another thing I have noticed with V19 is that it cannot open existing drawings but V18 has no issues." Did you install the (fixed + updated) V19.1.06-2 installer ? The initial V19.1.06-1 installer had a defect related to AEC Civil objects ...
  • "because V19 crashes upon opening those drawings" maybe, try V19 installation with the updated installer V19.1.06-2 ... the initial "06-1" installer had a defect, not properly registering the AEC Civil custom object enablers ... in virtually all r…
  • Dear Alf, "VLA-ADD" that part was broken here in the forum display ... (vla-add3dPoly) should indeed work, it is implemented for Linux/Mac ... So maybe you can open a support request, and also add your (simplified) Lisp code there, so that we ca…
  • Dear Dale, the .zip archieve does not contain the "DOSlib19*.brx" files ... and many thanks !!
