How to manage add-ons?
Hi,
I have been (lightly) considering this on and off for a few weeks but not putting much effort into it. Now might be a good occassion to start a thread.
I have my system setup with all of my configuration and customizations in a directory tree separate from the Bricscad installation. There is one main CUI file I load incombination with my user profile to switch between using Bricscad as-shipped and my way. Oh, there are the command aliases I need to set also but I have myself down to just three of those.
Now, consider the third-party add-ons. They have entries in the registry for auto-loading that are outside the user profile. Currently I have a couple that are always loaded automatically.
Is there a way to start Bricscad in a manner that will prevent loading of third-party applications? My reasoning is when I notice something I want to report I would like to be able to easily run Bricscad as-shipped to see if the behaviour is the same.
I am also experimenting with creating custom entites using BRX. I wonder if there is a difference between installing my modules to be auto-loaded via registry settings versus using the autoload.rx file in a directory included in the SRCHPATH variable.
I wonder if others would like to share the various options used to manage customizations and third-party apps?

Hi Greg,
I'm using different profiles for this purpose.
