Character Codes and Translation to Autocad

Hello all:

At work if I created a drawing Bricscad V12.1.8, created a text object with the following contents: \u+0083 \u+0082 this should give me a PL CL symbol - we are using archquick font (attached).  If I save the drawing, close it and then open in Acad 2009 I see \u+0083 \u+0082 instead of PL CL.  If I ddedit the text in Autocad and just click OK on the dialogue box the text then displays properly as PL CL instead of the character codes...  Any ideas?
