It means that i'm bricscad now :)BricsCAD is not bought by another company, it just goes off by itself. Well, almost, only for 80%.As the name is hinting, BricsCAD does only CAD. icaddev@bricsnet.com keeps working, but icaddev@bricscad.com will work too(as of today)regards, sander

Unfortunately, the sale is obviously another shift of corporate assets within the upper management team...The most likely result for you as a user is less resources devoted to supporting and further developing the product. Before investing in Intellicad as a CAD package consider the following:Feb18/2002:"...announced a management buyout of its non-strategic US based catalog business..."Feb4/2002:"...today announced a management buyout of its CAD software (Bricsnet Architecturals and Bricsnet IntelliCAD)..."Dec3/2002:"...today announced a management buyout of subsidiary company, BuildSoft..."There is a real difference between streamlining a company to focus on product development, and liquidating your corporate assets to the management team.If this (combined with the fact that this company has yet to show a profit and whose stock price is at $0.47 compared to a high of $60.00 does not set off alarm bells to you...Well then-maybe investing in Intellicad as a CAD package is RIGHT for you...Though I'm sure that "management" involved in these transactions will be just fine in the post-sale environment...Icad users WILL suffer. You'll definitely suffer when the whole place "goes up in flames".Cheers!

Well, I choose to be more optimistic. My hunch is that having ICAD in the hands of people more intersed in CAD will improve matters.

"Guest" mentions correct numbers, but should not substitute thinking with namedropping.Bricsnet has sold of some lucrative parts. These parts are now independent. How is it possible for all this to end up in flames together ?I agree with McIlrath.regards, sander, BricsCAD

I have been with Intellicad from the start with Visio and will continue to do so, and in particular with Bricsnet. I am optimistic. However, if Bricsnet/BricsCad does have severe difficulties in the future, we have the rest of the Consortium to rely on.

Gasp! an employee of the company that is slowing disintegrating disagrees...I'll not dignify the first sentence about the lack of thinking with a response, though I'll add the comment that the "sander" definitely has the attitude of a typical bricsnet employee. If the "parts" were lucrative, why sell them?"Independant"?...."Sold to management" is different than selling your assets to other companies. It's possible for all of "this to end up in flames together" because it is still being headed up by the same individuals.regards, "Guest"

The consortium will be the saving the grace of ICAD users everywhere. Without it, users would be holding a software package that is unsupported and unimproved-therefore for all intents and purposes...DEAD...Bravo to those who stick with it.
