3.1.0009
Just downloaded and installed the new version. Reading through the Readme file I found the following notice:"To our regret, VBA is no longer included. COM will keep working, of course, so VB programs keep working with IntelliCAD."A bit more information is called for here. I'm no big fan of VBA myself, but there are others who are. Is this a permanent situation? Somebody must explain why/how this came about.I've been using v3.1.0006 for a month or so (it was available at the server for a short time) and have been very pleased with with it. A whole different level of stability compared to earlier versions. Hope to see even better performance with 3.1.0009. Thanks!

This sight (bricscad) and the bricsnet sight still shows v3.1.0005 as most recent. Did they just not change the text in the pages or did you find v3.1.0009 somewhere else?J

Okay, official statement:Today's Vision: not including VBA in intellicad. This means that thedevelopment environment, with the editor and compiler is absentand COM applications that talk to IntelliCAD have to be made with VB or inanother VBA environment(eg office). We will make an evaluation, before we make a definitive decision in a majorupgrade. What are our considerations for not adding VBA ;- we have the impression that it has low use,- developers who want share or sell applications use VB, not VBA,- COM can still be used in C++, VB or other VBA environments,- the size of intellicad install set reduces drastically,- the freed budget is used for other developments, which are more applicablefor all users. For example in this version I-drop is already integrated, butstill hidden and not documented. We have a whole list of features that willbe integrated in the coming versions.mvgEddy Waermoes

Sounds like a good strategy to leave VBA out.

I bought a copy of Bricsnet Icad Nov. 9 of last year (ver. 2.2.0027). Am I still eligible for an upgrade or do I have to purchase another version.

Upgrades can be purchased at the following conditions in the BricsCad estore:1. BricsCad IntelliCAD - Upgrade - English - Downloadable 1 license. Upgrade from previous major versions: 95 USD2. BricsCad IntelliCAD - Upgrade - English - CD1 CD and 1 license. Upgrade from previous major versions: 145 USD3. Updates from previous minor versions can be downloaded for free. Upgrading from version 2.X.XXXX to 3.X.XXX is a major upgrade.

When I purchase ver. 2.2.0027 (Nov 9, 2001) the word on the forum was that ver. 3 was expected for released around October 30. Nothing materialized but I figured when it did I would be eligible for the upgrade. Finally about late Dec or early Jan 3.1.0001 was released but because of the overwhelming complaints of bugs, on the forum, I thought it would be wise to wait for a fix; besides 2.2.0027 was put back to "latest" status by Bricsnet to be on the safe side. Then about a month later 3.1.0005 was released but had a problem handling image tiles. 3.1.0006 was quickly release to remedy the problem, but I couldn't find the download; I presume you must need a ftp account or something. Finally 3.1.0009 has been released and is supposed to address most of the common bug problems as reported on the forum, and I'm thinking, this is definitely worthy of a download and a test. Here's the clincher. Even though I've only had the current version for less than 6 months (which is too bug ridden to seriously consider for production) I'm supposed to cough up 95 bucks for an upgrade.Excuse me for whining but I think your upgrade policy leaves a bit to be desired. Most companies give at least a year for free upgrades. If IntelliCAD was a stable product to begin with I might consider an upgrade but this certainly is not the case.

My customers and I use VBA!Last year I developed a VBA enhancement for IntelliCAD (German 2.2.0027). You can use a database to produce drawings automatic, alter the drawing manual, and get the changes back in the database.I sold this progam until now to > 50 users. Is there a way to port VBA applications to another programming language or technique and get a comparable fast program? If this way exist, please let me know about it.Perhaps I can get a type library for easyer developing? My customers all bought Intellicad, and they like it (I think they like it more if some bugs will be fixed in the german version, too, or if they can get a 3.x version!!), but if I cannot make further enhancements....Please let me know about your plans about the future of Intellicad and VBA and a newer german language version.ThanksHeinz

I cant believe my ears. The use of VBA in IntelliCAD gone, just like that ???To me and my coll. the use of VBA for customizing IntelliCAD has been just great. The fine thing about it is that it works within the program so that you dont have to buy any other developing tools to do wonders. All that work now has to go in the dustbin. What a shame. It seems as if we bet on the wrong horse after all. We will return to Acad after this.

We suggest you port your VBA application to Visual Basic. It shouldn'tbe too complicated to do so, and will allow you to compile theapplication as a DLL or EXE. You'll need to obtain the IntelliCadapplication pointer, usingGetObject("Intellicad.Application") About other programming languages:If there is sufficient interest, we could build a Java and/or C# APIfor IntelliCad. The new API could be developed from scratch, or itcould be implemented as a wrapper around the COM and/or SDS API's.Feel free to express your wishes in this area: - 1. What programming language(s) would you like to use? - 2. How closely should the new API resemble the existing COM or SDS API? - 3. Are there any new features you'd like to see in the API?Due to the reactions we received until today on the removal of VBA out ofIntelliCAD, we reconsider to bring out a version with VBA and a versionwithout. The version with VBA will be more expensive.Next week BricsCad will release a Beta version of the German 3.1 BricsCadIntelliCAD.

This is not fair...The upgrade to 3.1 have several bug fixes found in 2.20027 - so to get the bug fixes I mus pay 95 bucks???? Looks quite ironic to me. You from support, must have a release for these bugs in an partial upgrade option to 2.20027 release!Jaime
