Rotate by Reference

How can I scale an object by reference (much like you can in AutoCAD)?I want to be able to get the current angle by pointing not by specifying the current angle (not that, that gives expected results anyway). Is there a way or do I need to write a LISP routine to fix this?Andreas

  • This works exactly like in Autocad.

  • Yes, this works just like autocad. I recently learned this method of rotation from someone in my office who is using autocad. It is a really great tool.

  • Thanks Guys. However this great tool does not work in my IntelliCAD or my colleagues. We are still on v2.2.0027 but this shouldn't matter should it?

  • This isn't a new function, as far as I remember. Prompts may not be identical to Autocad, but procedure is. Works with:ROTATE - select - rotation point - R(B) - base point - second point - new angle

  • To be more specific:1. Choose rotate from the tool bar2. Select the item to rotate3. Select the rotation point4. Hit the "R" key and enter by either using the enter key or by right clicking5. Click on the base point6. Click on the second point7. Click on the point which defines a line between the base point and the "third" point for which you want the base point and "second" point to rotate to.
