v4.0 - SLOW - move , zoom etc

I've got a large 2D drawing of our communications network. It contains about 800 objects, each object may have 10 text attributes. When I draw a zoom window around a selected area the zoom box lags way behind the mouse cursor, this alone would not be enough for me to complain but when I try to move an object this same effect makes it nearly impossible to casually re-arrange objects.V3.3 never hesitated with these operations.

  • This sounds like the old problem with using the "fly-over" snaps with intersection enabled and having a drawing with many polylines.

  • The flyover snap problem has been fixed in v. 4. More likely, the performance problem is related to your text objects, especially if they are defined with true-type fonts.

  • I too had this same problem. I had to disable fly over snapping to resolve this problem.

  • Disabling FLY OVER SNAPPING makes a big difference. move, pan, zoom, zoom window etc have returned to normal.I don't need fly over snapping in this drawing but it sure is a great feature, I've developed quite a dependence on it.

  • could you send us the drawing please? we indeed found that flyover snap can slow down in some cases. Flyover snap is sth that is needed whenever editing, so it's important that we can keep the speed up.regards, sander, bricscad

  • I could not send you the production version of this diagram as it contains a lot of company sensitive information. However I could create a version that would likely behave the same ? To what email address would I send it ?Dez.

  • Try this Script file, you should see slow zooms, slow selects and deselcts.http://members.garbersoft.net/bb2235/tire-wheel.scr

  • 4.0.0029 has solved this problem me, Thanks,I've noticed that I can also snap to solids now :-)

  • Yes, that is alot better. I do have a question though, didn't it used to be possible to select an entity, zoom and the entity was still selected? I am reference to pre-selecting enttiies before running a command.
