zoom bug

Anyone have any problems with the zoom commandsin the latest release? Upon inserting/exploding a block, all zoom commands are shut down. When I restartBricscad all is fine again. There doesn't seem to be apattern to it either. Never had any problems like this usingWin98 but since switching over to XP all sorts of weirdthings have been happening.

  • No problems on my system: Win98, Bricscad 5.2.0010.

  • On winXP and WinXP SP2 BricsCad is running quite stable, certainly more stable than on Win98. Still, lately we heard about hard to predict instabilities when a P4 is used and hyperthreading is enabled. To check if your system has hyperthreading enabled for icad.exe, proceed as follows:In the task manager, if you click on the "Processes" tab and then right-click on the icad.exe process, you will notice an option called "set processor affinity".On accessing this, you are shown that the icad.exe process is set to run on both CPU 1 as well as CPU 2.Please set the icad.exe process to run on only oneprocessor (the first one) and see if this affects the 'weird things happening' as you mention.WinXP does not seem to remember this setting, and you need to manually set the processor affinity for the icad.exe process every time you start it up.We are curious to learn about your findings, because we may consider to disable hyperthreaded usage of BricsCad if these instabilities are confirmed.

  • Funny you mention the P4 problems because this ishappening on a new P4 3.0 machine we just got withXP pro loaded. I'll try your recommendations and let youknow what happens. On a side note, I have sent (2)support requests which have gone unanswered. Thoseare related to the problems stated here. Thanks.

  • On the topic of zooming...I don't seem to be able to zoom transparently with the mouse wheel in hidden, shaded or rendered modes - the dynamic zoom command is activated if the mouse wheel is turned. Has this always been the case, or is it a bug? Windows XP SP2 , various rodents tried....Miles

  • RE:affinity, see my post above!!!!

  • Just to let everyone know, hyper-threading seems to be theculprit with zooming and the like. For the past week I've been disabling the 2nd CPU as instructed above and have had zerocrashes. Maybe the programmers can fix this so we won'thave to mess with the affinity process.
