V6 and UNDO

I'm still using V5 pro and I would like to know if V6 handles the UNDO command correctly. In V5 it is quite messy.any opinions?thanksnuno, from Portugal

  • I haven't had any trouble with undo in V5.

  • That's the thing, apparently in some systems it works fine, and in other it's caos. In my computer I'm almost afraid to undo something. I can get a major 100 operations or more UNDO with just one click!!

  • I have had undo trouble with some earlier versions, I think many did. I only worked out fairly recently that probably most of my general software issues and instabilities (in W98), were due to the constant checking of a/virus programs (tried 3 or 4 until I hit on the real problem). Maybe that's a possibility?

  • If I understood you correctly, you say that routine virus checks masy cause undo problems with bricscad? could be...That would explain why some have the problem and others don't.Is the bricscad team aware of this possibility? Is there a workaround besides buying antivirus until finding the good one...?thanks

  • I couldn't say if it causes trouble with undo specifically, just if there is a possibility of the computer "faltering" perhaps when resources are already taxed, the AV software decides to check on files (which have probably lived there forever) being opened and puts it over the edge.I have had it happen with every brand I tried and affecting more than Intellicad, then I worked out you can turn off the resident protection (as it's called in Vet). So you virtually have no AV running, you can turn it back on for emails or what I do, use a utility called Popcorn to sift emails before downloading. Just scan the computer or suss. files occasionally & be careful what I download.

  • V6 will very rarely, but WILL undo much more than you intend. If it would be possible to remove all the view updates from the undo list, it seems like it would help. Since the views tend to get lost and the undo keeps track of view changes. Just a thought for the programmers.

  • The UNDO issue has not gone away. I do lots of saving the drawing. When it happens, and it happens at random, I close the drawing and reload it with _DDRECOVER. Then it works fine. The issue seems to be associated with drawings created before v5. If I cut and paste parts from a drawing made in previous version of BricsCAD into a new drawing I can expect to have an UNDO that goes wild at some point.

  • I have not had it happen with any Bricscad version. But when undo did go berserk in one or two previous installations, times when the views did not change I sometimes did not realise it had happened.

  • well... I just got one of these major UNDO's and using V6 ! I wish I knew what triggers this... (maybe it's an autodesk mallware ;-)) (just kidding)

  • If you mean you are working on Autocad files, I have a heap of trouble with some of those though not with undo specifically.

  • I'm not sure if the original file was produced with Acad. Some blocks for sure were...
