Unusual issue
I don't know what to make of this. One of my drafters finished a cross section on Friday. Today I opened the file and none of the work appeared done. The file is xrefed into a sheet file so I looked at the sheet file. In the lower right preview the drawing appears finished as if he did all the work. I can see all of the text and the changes made. I open up the sheet file and the xref appears just as the drawing file, no work done. I have searched my directories and can't find the updated file. I know he clearly did the work, it is strange we can see it in the preview but there is no evidence anywhere else. Anyone come accross something like this before? Thanks,Paul

I have had xrefs which don't appear in the sheet file in the past, opened in Acad. It still happens sometimes with my latest files read in some earlier versions (like V4 from another vender) after saving on the v4 system. Happened the other day, it was ok until they saved it.But I have never (as I can remember) actually lost work except when there was an undo bug which sometimes decimated a drawing - that never seems to happen any more.

I have never had this happen before. The work was somehow undone in the original file but the viewport is actually seeing some saved version of the work.I think it is lost, we are starting over. Thanks

The undo bug appears to be back in V7. I just had it erase about 15 previous commands on a file.

Me too yesterday

Paul, we would appreciate if you could enter this problem as a support request and attach the drawings. We will be glad to investigate what went wrong: without the actual drawings one can only make a wild guess.Best regards,Hans De BackerBricsCad

Personally I carried on, redrew then finished the drawing. Would that be any use or should we send the file as existing when an Undo behaves like this?

Andy, two things are being mixed up in this thread: 1. a problem with a corrupted undo stack, resulting in rolling back too far when using the undo command. 2. the 'unusual issue' Paul describes, which does not look like undo stack corruption to usConcerning your question about how to report an undo problem in the most useful way: two years ago we created a dedicated tool to allow effective reporting of undo issues, because undo problems are so difficult to reproduce. The tool took us 2 months to develop, and eventhough only 5 users effectively used it to report a problem, 2 of these reports allowed us to finally fix two long standing sources of undo stack corruption. Since then, the number of support requests concerning undo problems dropped spectacularly to almost none, so it was worth the investment. For those still experiencing undo problems, the instructions on how to monitor the undo stack and send reports can be found in this knowledgebase article: http://www.bricsys.com/common/knowledge/topic.jsp?id=143We highly appreciate your cooperation and will be glad to solve any issues deducted from the reports.Best regards,Hans

We have noticed that latest version of V7 seems to crash more often than previous versions, however, we could not track the cause and thus I was looking back at this tool to provide you with usable information. Will this tool be any good for anything but undo problems?Regards,José
