Insert Field
Hi all,Im looking for equivalent of the "Insert Field" option in Autocad. This is available inside the DDEDIT (edit text) command in Autocad, and adds the option to display the variable value of an entity within a text line (right click inside the text being edited, and select the "Insert Field" option). It is also available for block attributes and is very useful for example: to display the insertion point coordinates of a block, as a value in the block attributes.Dos anyone know a way, how can I display the insertion point coordinates of a block, as an attribute of the block? How can I display the value of a variable, or entity, within a text line inside the drawing? This would allow me to move a block around, and every time i place it on a different position, it will automatically display the new block insertion coordinates. Many thanks everyone.

Hi there, here is an answer I got from Bricscad:I confirm the problem. The attributes are not displayed because they have FIELD objects with DXF301="", the value of the DXF is not recalculated as in AutoCAD. The problem was reported to ODA (Opeb Design Alliance).'Save/SaveAs' problems were already fixed. The drawing can be saved as DWG/DXF since V9.1.2.Bricscad doesn't fully support fields, they are only displayed but not updated. The only way to display coordinates of an insert as variable values in attributes is to create an application using reactors which will update the values.

Nope, BCad don't have that yet. Anyone know if this is at least under consideration for a following update? It would be preferable to use the ACad fields directly instead of through a Lisp Reactor, this would make interoperability between ACad & BCad a bit more seamless.

We currently are working on adding support for FIELDS. To be expected soon, before the end of the year.
