Autocad 2005 crash

I currently use Autocad 2005, but I'm working with a company that uses Bricscad V9. When I try to open any file they send me, my Autocad crashes. Is there anything (like settings within Autocad or Bricscad) that I can do or the consultant to get this to work?

  • I had that problem once, about a year ago. I had set up all the layouts in a file to print to PDF using Pdf995. It worked fine in Bricscad v8, but it crashed my client's Autocad LT 2005. So I changed the page setups to HP DesignJet 430, and then they didn't have the problem.

  • I know an imported file usually/always defaults to the printer its creator had set (even files without layouts set up), but never gave much thought to it.Perhaps that's why a difficult to open file can sometimes be successfully Inserted into a blank file? Trouble is you lose all the layouts then.

  • If you attach a sample drawing to a support request, we will investigate why Autocad 2005 crashes on it and how it can be solved.Kind regards

  • I am also facing the same problem. We use to send to one of our clients the DWG files that we design. We had no problem with version 7, now that we upgraded to v9, they can only open only a few files. I already tried the plotter none option in the page setup with no success. Our client uses Autocad 2005 and 2009. The files only open in Autocad through the Recover command, and they show a lot of errors. Errors that the Bricscad recover does not show.

  • Marcelo, looking at the support requests you filed, I don't see one related to this issue. Please file a support request and attach one or more of the drawings you experienced this problem with.William, please don't hesitate to file a support request and attach a drawing: you don't have to be a Bricscad client to file one, neither is there a charge for filing a support request. We are perfectly willing to help you guys out, but without an actual problem drawing that's just not feasible...Kind regards
