List of things CAD users badly want
Hello Bricscad support & others,
In the past several months that we have been selling Bricscad in India, clearly, people have started to appreciate the good things about Bricscad (stability, Lisp/VBA compatibility etc) but there are a few issues still unresolved that every user has in common and wants without any compromise.
Let me list two of them here:
1. Speed - in opening and saving DWG files. Bricscad needs some improvement in this area, especially when file size increases. If I have to wait even 5-10 seconds more per drawing than a lower version of AutoCAD (like 2002/2004), the user will ask me - why should I buy Bricscad?
2. LayON and LayOFF command in bricscad is slower than it is in AutoCAD. Same logic - if he has to wait 2 seconds for each of these commands in a typical DWG, why should I buy Bricscad?
The question is - can this be improved easily?

Regarding speed. It's getting better and better. I also did some testing with Bricscad and Acad on a new and an old PC, with some large arrangement drawings, a few Mb filesize. Bricscad on a new computer may be faster than Acad on an old one. And Bricscad + PC still costs 25% of one Acad

I agree with Ragnar - if I made speed my first priority, I would have the fastest computer I could buy and still be way in front cost-wise.
But my computer is 3 years old and quite standard.
I am sure speed is a priority for all, it takes time and resources to develop and I am sure it is happening along with all the other improvements.
Meanwhile stability, compatability and cost are my first reasons for choosing Bricscad.
I am happy enough with the speed that I am not about to trial Acad to see if any speed improvement is worth 10 times the price - I know it won't be.
