Brics update

Anyone know when we can expect the next update to Bricscad?

Comments

  • We are currently preparing the release of V9.3.
If no show-stopper problem report comes in from the V9.3 beta-testers
we plan to release end of this week.

    Kind regards.

  • Is there any way to get on the beta tester list Hans?  I am always willing to put software through its paces!

Bricscad 9.3: Impressive list of changes! Is this version “Powered by IntelliCAD Technology”? “About” dialog has this sign.

  • @Daniel: we'll contact you  in the coming days.

    @Lazar: good question!

We actually have reached the point where we believe that any IntelliCAD code that was left in Bricscad, has been replaced/rewritten. Now, before actually making that claim and removing the "Powered by IntelliCAD Technology" label, we are scrutinizing our code during a final check. Given that a million lines of code have to be checked, this is likely to take a little while, but as you correctly assumed: we're very close now.

  • My show stopped when I installed 9.3 and it would not start. I have submitted a support request after reverting to the previous version. Just waiting to see if anyone else has a problem.

  • Hassle free install here.  Fantastic updates for trim, extend and fillets. Thanks Bricsys - huge time savers.

  • Congratulations to new geometry!

Just, please try this http://bc.hornany.sk/chamfer.dwg and try make CHAMFER (distance 0 and 0) by click on point 1 and next on point 2.

FILLET work in this case, but CHAMFER no ;I

But in any case, it's great to use FILLET and CHAMFER between two polyline.

  • I have found the reason my v9.3 would not start - there was a line in on_doc_load.lsp which loaded a particular lisp, followed by a "command" to run the lisp.
This lisp would answer its own request to set its one variable and on_doc_load would continue with its remaining chores and finish.
That line worked until v9.3, but it crashes the program on starting now. It's no great problem now I have found the hiccup and removed the "command".

Sorry to bore and/or alarm you all, but the experience might help someone.

  • Hello John,

"bore"? Common, you're a long-standing source of highly valued feedback!

In fact, I would like to pass on this issue to a developer in order to investigate the cause. If that's OK with you, could you please file a support request and attach (part of) the code you use that is known to trigger the problem?

    Best regards.

  • Thanks Hans. The action might even be one of those things I should never have been able to get away with, but could only because of Icad's tolerance. That has happened before.

I shall submit a support request and include a bigger issue I seem to have now with a number of lisps which include  (ssget "x" (list (cons 1 [something]))).

Oh and I really miss the Del key in v9.3

  • John, concerning the Del key: v9.3 comes with an updated CUI file, sounds like you're still using the v9.2 one. In case you had modified your v9.2 CUI file, the v9.3 installer probably will have refused to overwrite it, in order to preserve your modified file. But, this way you miss the updated definitions for the Del and Function keys... If you hit the 'Revert to defaults' key in the Customize dialog, the new definitions will be installed, but your modifications will be overwritten... In fact, to avoid this situation in the future, we recommend not to edit the default CUI file, but instead to load an additional partial CUI file that contains your modifications. This allows painless updates.

  • My menu customisations are in an appended .mnu similar to your recommendation, I must have forgotten to Revert to default before appending it.

I have installed/uninstalled a couple of times, then noticed Del had been removed in help so assumed it must have been dropped. Good news.

  • Hello Juraj,

V9.3.10 has been published an hour ago, it includes a fix for the chamfer problem you reported. Thanks again for your valued feedback!

  • Fixed. Great.

  • Is there already a release date for version 9.3 in German?

    Thanks for an answer.

  • The translator informed us that he currently is at 75 % of items to be translated, and expects the German V9.3 to be ready for release middle of next week.

    Kind regards.

  • Hi,

I have a problem using the "Hide" and "shade" command. First when i use the hide mode, It turns up there are shown line in diagonals inside the blocks? The next problem is when changing from shademode to hidden lines, only a few of the lines in the blocks are visible on screen - but if I print it like a PDF, It will appear on the paper/PDF viewer? I have updated to the latest version (V9.3.11) and I had a look at the read me file following it, and It was clearly stated that this version would cure earlier problems regarding this?

Normally I use a DWG to PDF converter named PDF995, and to get my 3D drawings shown with hidden lines, I first had to use the shademode command and shortly after use the "Hide" command. Then It would appear as solids without the wireframes. If I use the pdf export function within the BricsCad software, It will only show in 2D - Is there a cure for that?

    Kind regards

    David Birger
