new install of V9.3.11-2 Pro on Vista

Subject says it all.

With startup of fresh installed (not updated) Bricscad V9.3.11-2 Pro on Vista (32-bits) the following failure pops-up:

23:58:44: Main User interface customization file not found: C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Bricsys\Bricscad\V9\en_US\support\default.cui You can browse to a cui file in the menu command.
23:58:44: Unable to open program parameters file: default.pgp The file should be in one of the SRCHPATH variable's folders.  No shell commands or command aliases will be available.

Comments

  • Just copied all files from location C:\Program Files\Bricsys\Bricscad V9\UserDataCache\Support\en_US to
C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Bricsys\Bricscad\V9\en_US\support\ and all works... (I think)

Seems like a glitch in the installation procedure.

  • Also templates needs to be copied the same way.

Where to put PlotConfig and PlotStyles?

  • Please have a look at this knowledge base article : http://www.bricsys.com/common/knowledge/topic.jsp?id=269. It explains what should happen during and after installation.

It is hard to say what went wrong on your system. Some way the procedure that copies files from the installation folder to local user folders failed to do its job. (this procedure is inside Bricscad, not in the installer). We are currently improving this procedure, by checking if the ROAMABLEROOTPREFIX and LOCALROOTPREFIX settings, if set in the registry, point to existing, non empty folders. If not, it means something went wrong, in that case Bricscad will copy the files again.

  • Oops, never thought of using the KB.
    Thanks for your reply.
