SHX error in BricsCAD 9 & 10 but not in old version 7
I have a russian DWG with couple of SHX fonts.
When I open the DWG in AutoCAD 2009 the simplex.shx file which is used shows the russian characters
When I open the DWG in BricsCAD 9 or 10 the Russian characters are shown as ???????? questionmarks, however in the propertiesbar you can see the russian text correctly.
Strange is that in BricsCAD 7 this russian characters are shown!!!
What happend here?
Greetzzz,
Gerben

Simplex.shx is the same in BC7 and BC10. At some point you must have copied a different (Acad?) simplex.shx into the BC7 font folder.

Are you sure about that Roy? On my system the SIMPLEX.SHX installed from v7 is definitely not the same as that which was shipped with v10.
BC7 and 9 might be the same but there is a difference for me with v10 with the v10 being considerably larger.

A file just yesterday came up with a different looking isocp2 - apparently there is a difference between isocp2 and isocp2.shx.
I had not noticed before if the situation existed.
The only fonts which are not the same height, that I know of are the iso fonts - they are all slightly shorter than their real size.

Ah, sorry for the confusion... by larger I meant bytes on the disk.

Dear Gerben, there can be many reasons why the fonts don't display but I would try updating the Bricscad version. We have worked on the fonts in V10.1.

@Greg:
I ran out of evaluation time for BC10 but the files are still on my system. The file simplex.shx is identical (binary comparison) for versions 10.1.7.16382 and 7.1.18.0. But of course this may not be the case for later BC10 versions and/or non-english versions.0 -
It might have something to do with CODEPAGE. (shudder)
If the file has been opened and saved in a localized or old version of Windows, and/or with some oldish version of Autocad,
non-English text can get seriously screwed up. We get this sometimes with Hebrew text.
I still don't really understand the issue, can anybody point me to a tutorial or resource about how unicode and bidirectional text is handled by Windows and Autocad?
Bricscad doesn't seem to mess up anything, the problem is with transferring files between incompatible methods of coding in different versions/languages of Windows.

Gentlemen, FYI -
The SIMPLEX.SHX fonts I have with my installations are definately not the same file:
For Bricscad V7.1.18 the SIMPLEX.SHX file size is 11,900 bytes. Viewing the file contents, the text description at the start of the file reads "Autocad-86 Unifont 1.0 Copyright 2000 Intellicad Technology Consortium".
For Bricscad V10.2.7 the SIMPLEX.SHX file size is 17,915 bytes. Viewing the file contents, the text description at the start of the file reads "Autocad-86 Unifont 1.0 Simplex Bricsys 200911061215".
It would be a welcome addition to have the uncompiled SHP files included with Bricscad.
