Retaining Layers in Sheet

I am using version 9 and I am sure this is just a simple command.  I have frozen layers in a viewport and they remain that way until I close the drawing and re open again.  When the drawing opens all layers are turned on again.  Is there a command or drawing setting I need to make them hold?  This doesn't happen in any of my other files.

Thanks,

Paul

  • There has been talk here before about layers being frozen with VPLAYER getting reset...

    See http://www.bricscad.com/common/support/forumthread.jsp?id=11201

    Are they XREF layers?

  • Thank you for the link to the past thread.

It is one viewport, and it does contain xrefs.  My first instinct was to use the VISTRETAIN command.  I changed it from whatever it was, but did not have success.

  • I would make a copy of the drawing:

    • switch to model space in that viewport,
    • save a layer state,
    • delete the viewport,
    • create a new viewport and
    • restore the layer state (while in model space again).

You could send the file in with a support request also.

Have you checked it the viewport is on a frozen or locked layer? It does not seem to matter in the v10 I have but perhaps it did with v9?

Have you tried to run audit?

  • I had the same problem in V10 with an xref and made a suport request.

The answer was - audit the file, save it, reset the layer states within viewports, save again.

Auditing seemed to find no problem, but doing it fixed the drawing.
