10.4.12 (beta) 64 bit install instructions

The last line in the known issues states,

"Installation issues on 64 bit. It is possible to run Bricscad (Linux) on a 64 bit system. However, the Bricscad (Linux) installers do not automatically add all required 32 bit libraries. Additional manual setup is needed."

Are these "additional manual setup" steps posted somewhere?

Thanks in advance for your prompt response.

  • did you mean only DEB package?

  • It installs just fine, but doesn't run. I'm specifically looking for the referenced "additional manual setup" steps.

BTW, I'm getting the following error,

    segfault at 4 ip 00000000f29e2ef6 sp 00000000fff6f144 error 4 in libGL.so.1.2[f297d000+a7000]

    if this helps.

  • Hello, the "additional manual setup" was not described before.

We are still sorting out the minimum package requirements on each of the supported systems (Ubuntu/Fedora/OpenSUSE 32/64 bit gnome/kde).  Bricscad always depends on the same set of libraries.  The required libraries are available on every system, but the packages containing those libraries are not the same across different distributions.

In the meantime, here's a description of what steps were made to run bricscad on a freshly installed openSUSE 11.2 64-bit, running KDE:

  • Hi,

I haven't tried 10.4.12, but with 10.4.9 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit, installing ia32-libs (apturl, click to install) solved the problem.
