Beware exchange rates charged
Hi,
I've just bought the upgrade to v11, advertised at 150 dollars. The euro/dollar exchange rate is currently about 1.39 which gives a price of 108 euros. However, I have been charged 130 euros which is about 20% more expensive than the dollar version.
For a European buyer, buying in euros, from a European company this is unacceptable.

Hi John,
Just checked the price for updating from v10 PRO to v11 PRO and the E-store states 130 EURO. That is the European price, and that is what you got charged for. No idea why you would be offered a price in dollars if you are from Europe. If you feel you've been mislead, I suggest you make a formal complaint.

Hi Gerrit,
Well I clicked on the International Sales by mistake and the shopping cart informed me that "this currency is not usable in this area" or something along those lines and converted the rate into euros.
My point is why isn't the conversion 108 euros instead of 130? Why exactly is European software cheaper in America than it is in Europe?
regards
John

While I believe Bcad is exceptional value compared with anything in its league, it's interesting that $150US currently equals $152Australian and the price of upgrading from V10 to V11 is $180AUS.
I don't really care (I will pay it gladly... if by credit) and I don't expect Bcad to be jockeying exchange rates daily, but it is interesting and it's not just the Euro.
The financial world still regards the US dollar with deference, even after the trouble the yanks have caused and the trouble they are in.
All the smart people here study finance/commerce, that probably says a lot about me as a draftie for whom 180 bucks means something and who can't really answer your question, John.
Still I have seen a lot of fortune reversals and my favorite rule of life is ""nil desperandum carburundum illegitami" - Bcad excluded of course, I don't believe for a minute this anomoly is some sort of deliberate money grab.
