Import features
I am currently looking at purchasing bricscad on Linux and am looking at file formats, etc. I love the fact that the interface is nearly identical to the versions of AutoCAD I have most experience with. Makes me finding my way very quick...However.
I work mostly in theatre, and while many drawings are in "autocad 2004" format, more and more are in Vectorworks (VWX) and occasionally newer versions of AutoCAD (2010). I don't have any AutoCAD 2010 files on my laptop to test with so I ask, does Bricscad load these newer format drawings. If not does Bricsys intend on adding the support in the future?
I looked at the import and it looks like only DXF files are compatable. Is there a potential for Vectorworks drawings to be imported in the future?
More are more lighting designers are using VectorWorks for plots, as it has a direct tie-in capability between their spotlight version and Lightwright-5. So potentially designers more and more will be wanting to use VWX files instead of DWG (most now use DWG-2004). I do not have the money to buy Vectorworks at all at this point, and even after trying have failed to learn it enough to really get a feel for wanting to lay down that kind of money. I much prefer the autocad-2004 style of drafing. I mostly draft in 2D, lighting plots, simple set designs and layouts. Use CAD to figure out set storage and how things can fit, along with laying out seating and checking sight-angles.
I have to say future VWX support would be REALLY COOL, even if it is by way of import to DWG format. And as more people migrate to Windows-7 and AutoCAD 2010+ support of the newer file formats (which has been communicated to me by one person are not compatable to the 2004 format). Personally I much prefer Linux, and my copy of Lightwright-4 and Beamwright work fine in WINE.
Cheers.

Hey all, sorry for the doublepost.
However I just noticed on the website a statement of the support of the 2010 file format. Nice.
