why Bcad shuts my computer down?
It's crazy i never thought an application could shut a PC down, but it does. Bcad v11 makes my computer restart when working with a file. I've tried everything to fix this: restore the file, renaming it, saving it to a different folder, saving it to a different dwg version, but none works. It seems there's a problem with this file and video memory, because it opens quick and i can work a couple of minutes with the file, but when i perform a scroll zoom the computer restarts. I would expect Bcad to crash or any other failure instead of a total computer shutdown, which is imho unacceptable for a reliable software. Does anyone have a similar problem? Do i miss something about requirements and proceedings on working with Bcad?

Never had a problem which caused crashes like that since adopting Icad98. Windows XP was a leap in stability too.
Some situations and certain files have caused crashes in the past, but I honestly can't remember the last time Bcad showed any signs of instability even with many files I use from other sources.

We saw a lot of instability in some versions of V10, but have had no problems with stability in V11.
Could you post information on your computer (CPU type and speed, video card model number, amount of memory, etc.) and on the versin of Windows you are running?

Here's the ID card of my computer:
HP Compaq with internal Intel GMA 3100 (Intel Q33 Express chipset family) for video w/ 384 Mb (i'm afraid the problem is here)
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz
RAM 1.97 Gb
Windows XP Profesional v2002 service pack 3
Any comments welcome, thanks in advance

It most likely is a graphics card or CPU overheating problem, you could try some resouce intensive games to see if these cause this as well.

We had that with my daughter's computer. After a lot of grief we found something was letting the main fan shut down at odd times. Can't remember exactly now, but I believe the only solution I could find was to turn off all standby and hybernation features in Windows. It might have been that the fan followed HD activity or similar, but I don't believe it was a thermostat thing or that it was something I could change with BIOS settings.
