Eliminate command bar panel?

/begin rant/ Is there a way to get rid of the panel at the top of the command bar? I don't need to be reminded that command bar is, indeed there. The panel is taking up valuable screen area for no good reason! /end rant/ (Thanks)

    If you close it, commands will still appear in the bottom status bar (replacing the "Ready" status text)

    Cameron, long ago I decided I needed a couple of lines visible in the command bar to show results from many of my lisps. The default command bar at the bottom of the screen works fine. I'd just like the unnecessary panel to go away. Thanks.
