"Help" operating differently?
I just downloaded v11.2.8, build 21380. The "Help" function seems to be functioning differently than on previous builds. Invoking Help from the Menu bar (or F1) opens the Help window, but it will not search or find in the User Guide.
It's not a huge deal, but I find it annoying to not be able to search the User Guide unless I open up the "Bricscad-UsrGui.chm" file directly.
Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe the help file has not successfully been given access to the local machine.Files downloaded off the Internet - including ZIP files and files cotained in those zip files - are marked as potentially malicious and so do not get full browsing rights on the local machine. If this is what you are experiencing then you need to modify the properties of the help file to unblock it. Info and explaination can be found here

Jason, thanks for the reply. However, that apparently is not the problem.
I checked out the link you posted (good information - thanks) and checked the permissions on all the help files. Admin and System users had full control/access, and the real-person user (me) has read/execute permission. I logged in as Administrator and had the same result on accessing Help.
I might try uninstalling the latest version and reinstalling an earlier version of Bcad to verify the problem.
Thanks again for your suggestion.

If that isn't the issue, then I suggest you lodge a support request to confirm whether it is intended "feature" or not. I currently have V11.2.7 installed and it doesn't exhibit this issue. Until you resolve you could:
- Reinstall V11.2.7, copy the help files to a different location, and then reinstall V11.2.8.
- Use online help http://www.bricsys.com/bricscad/help/en_US/V11/Bricscad/

Thanks, Jason. I'll play around a bit more. Until I know for sure it's not my computer/OS I'll hold off sending a support request.
I can still get to all the Help manuals, I just have to do it by going to my Program Files directory. But thanks for the link to on line help - I didn't know it was there.

Gary

I've installed V11.2.8 and had the same issue with Help so have raised a support request. Keep an eye out for on Bricscad releases: http://www.bricsys.com/rss/rss.jsp?channel=bcad
