errors with cut, copy and paste

Does everyone else have problems with the function cut/copy paste?

I try to cut an object, but I get "error 80, the file already excists", and it does not work to copy object either. Have anyone else experienced this problem ad wish to help me troubleshoot this problem?

  • Ken, I have never experienced the problem you describe. Can you provide more details?

    What are you copying?

    How are you copying it?

Which  version of the program are you running?

  • Version 10.1.7 english

It does not matter what I am copying, it can be a simple line. Nor does it matter whether it is a big size dwg or a new small one.

I am just trying to copy a basic line from one point to another using either ctrl+c or using the right click and copy.

The same problem is for the cut function. error 80 occurs, but I can't find any info of this error, except what it says, cannot make a temporary file "the file already excists". I do not know whether it is the machine causing problems or if it is some commands which I accidentally have pressed in Bricscad causing this jam of cut, copy, paste commands. I do not have these problems with other programs, and I just reset my system back to 2 days ago (before I realized this problem) but that did not help either.

  • Hi Ken,

I do not recall having that error even when I ran v10. I assume you have already checked if there is free space on the file system.

I don't know if the program needs to create a temporary file for a clipboard operation. My guess would have been no but it is only a guess.

It sounds like you have been running Bricscad for a while and are just getting this error? If yes I would suspect a virus or other corruption of the installation.

You should send in a support request because the version of v10 I had at the time was 10.1.11. Support will likely send you a link to download.

    Either way I would:

    • create a new user profile, and
    • prevent customizations from loading

If that does not fix it remove and reinstall Bricscad. Here I would try the latest version of v10.

    Hope it helps.

  • You could try if cleaning up your TEMP system folder helps (this is where temporary files used for copy/paste are stored).

If this does not help, please send in a support request, our analysts will be glad to help.

  • I have time to time problem with CTRL+C and CTRL+V and CTRL+SHIFT+V. My SR24858.

PASTE and PASTE AS BLOCK insert diffent things - like separate clipboard.

Ie. first I make copy (CTRL+C) and copy "number 1", paste (PASTE and PASTE AS BLOCK work OK), work, work, make CTRL+C copy "number 2".

And when use PASTE (CTRL+V) it insert "number 2" and PASTE AS BLOCK (CTRL+SHIFT+V) it insert "number 1".
