Beep on error option?
I recall back when I was using AutoCAD version 10, there was some sort of setting that caused AutoCAD to make a beep sound when ever there was an errror.
I used this feature because it allerted me that I had made a typing mistake. Since with the keyboard input you can go fairly fast, it is easy to do an entire sequence and not realize the errror occured if the change was not visually obvious.
It may have been dropped by Autodesk a long time ago, since I don't seem to recall hearing any beeps from AutoCAD when I have used it. Perhaps it simply defaults to off. I have searched the Bricscad help file, but without success. It is possible that I am not using the correct search word.
To date myself, I will add that the terms have changed over the years. Originally the sound a computer made was the BELL from the actual bell that was hit by a solenoid on teletypes. Eventually it was replaced by an electronic beep. Only after windows was established, and sound cards became common was a variety of allert sounds possible.
Does anyone know if there is an error allert sound option in Bricscad?

Hi Joe,
There is still an option called "Beep on Error in User Input" in all the versions of AutoCAD, including the latest AutoCAD 2012.
By default, it is ticked OFF and I am sure almost no one bothers to switch it on.
I guess now the world and the computer makes enough noises - no one wants the CAD software to add to it.
Other than that, for your information, if you want to generate additional noises using Lisp programming, you can use doslib in both Bricscad and AutoCAD. Check out the (dos_beep.....) and (dos_wav....) functions to make noises of various kinds.Regards
