Problem opening Acad 2011 drawing

I have an Acad 2011 drawing which I am opening in Bricscad v 11.4.1. There is a problem with the fonts, Bricscad gives me the message:

Substituting font "ROMANS.SHX" by default font.
Substituting font "SIMPLEX.SHX" by default font.
Substituting font "ISOCP.SHX" by default font.

The default font is simplex.shx. I tried changing it to romans.shx but it made no difference. I copied the 3 fonts from an Acad 2004 installation to the Bricscad fonts folder but it didn't help either.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this and get the fonts looking right?

  • The first thing to check is that the font directory is within the support file search path.  It should be there as part of the installation but for whatever reason I once lost it too!  Open up the settings dialog and search for "Search".  If that isn't the issue then someone else may have another idea.

  • Thanks Daniel, that was the problem all right. Support, Fonts and Help were all pointing to Bricscad v10 instead of v11.

I'm not sure how that happened, it was a fresh install and my previous version was v9. I think I tried v10 at some point but I didn't keep it and maybe the settings got stuck in the registry. That shouldn't interfere with a new installation though.
