Tanget Snap While Drawing Circles
Hello:
Just wondering if anybody else has noticed that wehn drawing circles in 11.4.5 that the tangent snap turns itself on. Also I have noticed that if you are picking the radius/diameter of the circle along the lenght of a line, the tangent snap comes on asking to pick a "deffered tangent", if you click on the line, the command line returns "A positive, non-zero value is needed. Please try again:". Any ideas?

I have some issues with snap and esnap, but I don't get the tangent problem.
"A positive, non-zero value is needed. Please try again:" happens when it tries to snap to a finish point in the same place as a start point.

@Scott, I had this happen to me a couple of times today but I can't reproduce it at will. I assume the shift state has not been reset during a function call because I was doing a lot of shift rightclick menu snapping at the time. Just in case you weren't aware, shift clicking a circle or arc while in the line command will start the deferred tangent. If anyone can tie down the faulty action or even describe the steps to reprodudce the problem it is worth making a support request.
Regards,

I have had at least one instance of 11.4.3 not closing properly, though it allowed a new session to start, only Ctrl>Alt>Del would close it properly. I noticed that the recent file list had not changed since the previous start. I don't know if certain actions or settings can be left hanging if that happens.
I don't believe the next 2 updates contain anything to affect me.

@ Daniel Eiszele:
The only way I can get 'deferred tangent' in the LINE command is when I LEFT click a circle with osnap TANGENT for the first point. No shift clicking is involved. Could you explain in more detail what you mean by 'shift clicking' (which mouse button, which osnap ...)?0 -
I did a little bit more experimenting with the tangent snap, and I should correct something that I mentioned in my first post. I did have the tangent snap turned on. Let's say that I want to draw a circle with its centre situated on the end point of a line, now if I to pick the radius at some arbitrary point along the line, the tangent snap becomes active and attempts to find a point along the line which is tangent to the circle; the only tangent in this situation is the endpoint of the line, which is also the same as the centre point of the circle...

@ Scott McKenzie:
Thank you for that clarification. So basically BC tries to create a circle with such a radius that the circle is tangent to the line. And in your case this would mean a circle with radius 0 leading to the "A positive, non-zero value is needed. Please try again:" warning. This seems correct behaviour to me. In this case osnap tangent should be temporarily switched off.0 -
@ Roy Klein Gebbinck. Roy the alternative is:
* Start Line Command
*Shift Right Click and select" Snap to Tangent" from the popup menu.
* Click on Arc/Circle...
...same as your way just using the snap menu provided with the right click! I think the problem I thought I had was actually just me uncovering some functionality I hadn't noticed before as I don't usually have the tangent snap turned on.
