Flatten or lock esnap z axis value

Hi,

Is it possible to flatten or lock the Z axis value when using esnap in Bricscad. The typical practice is when working in plan view with a 3D drawing. The goal is to avoid creating or moving entities in 3D/Z space unintentionally.

In autocad you have the following options:
Tick the box "Replace Z value with current elevation" or alternatively, set OSNAPZ = 1 and ELEVATION = 0

Hope someone has an idea.

  • I don't know how to do this in Bricscad, and this is definitely something I'm missing a lot - not only to avoid unwanted 3d, but also when working on 3d-models. Typing e.g. '.xy @ 0'  is really too inconvenient, I'm totally used to toggle osnap projection on the fly (Rhino has this for years).  I wasn't aware AutoCAD now also has a var (osnapz) again to control this (since when?) - they had one before (flatland), but dropped it in r11 or r12 I think. Funny thing is that this flatland variable still exists in Bricscad (you can set it to on or off), but it does not have any effect.

Another thing I miss is the ability to lock snapping to the displayed tracking vector (in Rhino you just press TAB for this) - working with inferred points is often way too fiddly.
