Work around for oobjects that don't show up in model viewport

I submitted a support request to Bricscad about this problem a while back, but never got a reply.  Perhaps some others here have run into a similar issues, and have a work-around or solution.

As a drawing grows, eventually, I seem to get to a point where it is common for objects to not show up in a paperspace viewport.  All layers are thawed, and on. The viewport is on.  Regenerate or regenall on the drawing has no effect. If I print or printpreview, it prints correctly, with the objects that didn't show up before printing fine.

It is hard to work on invisible things!

  • Please use "_recover" on the drawing ... sometimes it really helps,
if database issues cause the trouble ...

  • I believe I have had something like that in a particular file and might have fixed it by cutting and pasting everything into an empty file, but can't remember for sure.

I had one vport in a file which would not show linetypes. It turned out to have a tiny copy of the vport in one corner. Don't know how it got there, but deleting it fixed the problem.

Vports don't automatically update now, that's a small pain.

  • Thanks about the recover tip.  Actually, I ran Audit, which found some errors.  And I thought that it fixed the problem, because it did cause the errant viewport to display properly. However, I closed the file and then ran recover.  That didn't reveal any more errors, but then the same viewport had the same problem.  Other viewports have manefested the problem at one time or another.

  • Dear Joe, please send that drawing as SupportRequest ...
best to preset that layout containing the viewport(s) which show up incorrectly.
Then we can investigate what causes the problem ...

  • I realize that intermittant problems can be very difficult to track down.  But, this particular one is also a cirtical one, beause if you can't be sure that everything is showing up on screen, then you can't be confident of your work. This one has manefest itself on multiple files and on two different computers.

I have sent the files to you via. technical support.   You already have an earlier version of the problem sent to you about 3 weeks ago.
