Linetype Display After Zoom

Hello all:

I am currently running 11.4.6 30718 rev 23066 and have noticed the follwoing behaviour:

If I have a bunch of lines drawn with a predefined linetype (hidden or centre for example, among others) when I zoom in or out, the displayed scale of the linetypes remains constant.  However, after doing a regen all, the 'display' linetype scale changes according to the current zoom factor - the linetypes now appear the same as they did prior to zooming.  I don't think this is a bug rather a feature - just wondering if this is an option in the program - I have looked but cannot see anything...

Thank you!

  • I guess you are working in modelspace 'through' a paperspace viewport and by zooming you are changing the viewport scale. If that is the case you are looking for the PSLTSCALE variable.

  • Oh, I didn't realise it would do that. Linetype scale and various confusing attempts at addressing it seem to be a bane for Acad users too.

I remember Turbocad had a nice way of dealing with it, when I tried it a few years ago - it behaved much as Scott describes, just appeared 'right' wherever you were.

For the sake of having a control over it few would use, we struggle to achieve what most would accept as 'standard'. Hatch scales are a similar pain, they are not even consistent.

I would think it's much better to do the main work in model space than through a vport.

  • I am not sure what is going on, I can't reproduce what I was querying in my first post.  I was working directly in model space - rarely do I work in MS via PS, using imperial units, psltscale was on, ltscale was, I believe set to 1 IIRC.  Not too sure what is going on, but it is working as i would expect, sorry for the post...
