"Deferred Perpendicular" snap -- what is it, and how can I disable it?

In version 12 of Bricscad (Windows) there seems to be a change in the running "perpendicular" snap setting.  I usually have endpoint, intersection, and perpendicular snaps set as running. In earlier versions, when I am drawing a line, say, and I hover the mouse over or near the endpoint of a line, endpoint snap will activate.  Now, the primary snap that comes up is "deferred perpendicular" and it is quite hard to get the endpoint snap to activate (I have to get very precisely on the endpoint).

If I deactivate the perpendicular running snap then this goes away, but then I don't have the perpendicular snap as it used to be (when I really am snapping perpendicular to some line).  This is a minor issue, I realize, but does anyone know if there is a setting to go back to the previous behavior?

Thanks.

  • +1 for same issue.

Perpendicular snap seems to have priority over the other snaps. I would prefer to be able to set snap priority so that endpoint, midpoint, centre will have priority over others. Would it be possible to introduce a means to assign prioroity to snaps?

  • This makes sense, but on the other hand I think it would satisfy the expectations of 99% of the users if esnap just honored the order already inherent in the osmode variable...

  • Concerning 'Deferred perpendicular entity snap' item the problem occurs when drawing lines, but ONLY if the first snap of a new Line command sequence is on a LINE entity. If the first point is defined otherwise (e.g. clicking, coordinates, snapping to another entity type, ...), the problem does not occur.
We are currently looking into the matter and will try to modify the behavior to the most practical solution.

  • I have had issues with esnap for some time, but one persistent behaviour I notice in V11 is immediately after an operation involving esnap, the very next operation begins with the perp symbol showing. A perp is not expected at the beginning of a command, but I'm never sure if it's finding an end, mid etc, or a point perp from the final point of the pervious command.
