non latin fonts not displaying correctly

Hi all,

whatever I try I don't manage to get non-latin fonts (e.g. greek letters) displaying correctly. I'm using bricscad v12 on linux Fedora 15 - 64 bit.

This happens both with system fonts (e.g. Standard Symbols L) and with true type fonts taken by a windows installation (e.g. symbol.ttf).

When I try to use such fonts in text or multiline text I only get hollow squares or rectangles displayed instead than the correct characters.

Can anybody help?

Regards,

w.

PS: does anybody know which system font actually corresponds to the default "Arial" font used by Bricscad?

  • I can only confirm that symbol fonts don't display. I thought DWGCODEPAGE might need to be set , but it is either unrelated or has no effect at all. You should probably file a support request for this.

As to the Arial font, the Liberation font family (developped by RedHat, so probably standard on Fedora) is said to have the same metrics as the Microsoft fonts, so LiberationSans could be used as a replacement. However, the easiest option is to install the microsoft corefonts; in debian, there is a 'ttf-mscorefonts-installer' package that handles this, I bet Fedora offers something similar.
