Deferred perpendicular and other v12 questions

We just made the switch from v9 to v12, and have noticed a few things we cannot figure out how to turn off.  For example:

Deferred perpendicular snap....this takes precedence over all other snaps and is annoying.

when esnaps are on snaps activate (ie, mid points are highlighted, etc) even if no commands are given.  I only want the snap icons to show up when a command is given.

fyi, I have snaptracking off, polar tracking off, dynamic input off

Hovering the pointer over any object, line, etc. highlights that item even if no commands are active.  I only want the item highlighted if I select it.

 

Any help getting these behavioral peeves corrected would be greatly appreciate.

for highlighting at hovering : set SELECTIONPREVIEW as 2 (not 1 or 3);
also, enter "effect" in search field of settings dialog :-)

The deferred perp and tangent snap priority was changed with v12.1.3, are you using an older release?

I don't have enaps unless there is a command active but I don't know of a setting to change that... Is this always happening for you?

I was using v12.1.2.  I just installed v12.1.4, and eveything seems to be "back to normal" with the snaps.  Thank you.

The snap problem is also (still) fixed in the current version (12.1.13).
