Lineweight display in R12 - Why me and my team works in R11 again instead R12
As we print drawings in color, me and my team are using similar or equal colors for the same materials (brick, concrete, steel, stone...). Layers for different lines for the same material differs mostly in Linetype and Lineweight and slightly in Color. In that case it is difficult to draw with LWT off. If LWT is on and Lineweight display scale is set to a value greater than 0.45 lines are too thick, and if it is less than 0.45 you have a visual mess on your screen. So we decided to uninstall V12 and return to R11.
Although this is obviously a bug, I decided to put it on this forum because of very rude and ignorant answer to my support request which is listed below.

Dear Ljubov,
Your answer is very disappointing. As I understand the obvious bug which makes the chaos on screen if one uses LWT option (displaying different line thickness for the same line according to the line angle) for you is acceptable and there is no need to try to fix it in reasonable time. While the line drawing command is not finished ,thickness is visible for diagonal as well as horizontal or vertical segments, but after the first regeneration it disappears. Why?
What can I expect after your next improvement of BC. The different color for the same line depending on the line angle or so?!
Best regards,
Nenad Bikicki

Dear Nenad,
Thank you for explanation, it's clear now. The different visual lineweight of horizontal and diagonal lines was introduced as a side effect of a performance improvement for oblique lines with lineweight. Unfortunately, this won't be fixed soon.

Dear Ljubov,
It is about lineweight option in settings dialogue. As you can see on attached file LWGHT 0.3 BC ver 11, if 'lineweight' value is set on 30, in version 11 you can see the difference between displayed line thickness on screen for different line thickness set in layer property dialog box (dark green 0.5mm, light green 0.3, grey 0.18mm).
The same scene, (attached file LWGHT 0.45.jpg), in BC ver. 12 for 'lineweight' value set on 45 or more gives the similar result as in BC 11.
But, if you change it from 45 to 40 or less, (attached file LWGHT 0.41.jpg) you can't see the difference in line thickness of liht green lines and grey lines what is regression.
In attachment you will find file drawing 1.dwg so you can compare results for different 'lineweight' values.
I prefer lower valus of lineweight parameter because displayed lines on monitor are not too thick when drawing is zoomed out, and still enough tick when drawing is zoomed in.
Best regards,
Nenad Bikicki

I agree to Mr Bikicki.0

Well I also agree: this obviously is a bug.
In fact Lyubov is not to blame, she merely repeated the reply she received from her superior, who seems to have made a shallow investigation and came to wrong conclusions.
An update release, containing a fix for this issue, has been scheduled for the first half of next week.
We apologize.0 -
Hmmm... I agree we don't want regressions as side effects to improvements when we update and the initial outcome was not satisfactory. I also agree with the public posting as the next level of dialog. However, my interpretation of the tone of the support request reply would be apologetic and not ignorant nor rude.
My $0.020 -
In version 12.1.12 this bug is removed. I thank Mr. Baker and BC team for solving this problem. Greg. I couldn't find better words. But now it is behind us.
