Signature on a drawing

I wonder, Is there a way to include a signature on a drawing (by means of sketch, or attaching Jpg file...), without the option to be reproduce again, and be inserted on other drawings ?
As a licensed surveyor, I'm often requested to add my signature on the drawing. I do it only on hard copy.

  • What you need is a "digital signature" (not a digitized signature) that has security built into it and is supported by a security plug-in of some kind.

I have dealt with this issue a lot in my own work, and have also developed a plug-in to provide this capability.

It's a complex issue.  My short answer is that while it's possible to apply a digital signature to a DWG file (and there are some companies that provide software to do this) that is not the best solution when signing and stamping professional drawings.  It is better to sign a PDF of the drawing, as this represents what you actually want to have printed and viewed by the end user.  See this white paper for a general description of the issues:

There are many ways to apply a digital signature to a PDF (including tools built into Adobe Acrobat and the Revu product by Bluebeam).  The plug-in that I developed is for Adobe Acrobat, and it provides additional features to meet unique needs of the architecture/engineering/surveyor community.

For more information on the process (both relative to this plug-in, and in more general terms), see this page:

    Best of luck!
  •  Thanks. it was most enlightening.
