Refedit

I inserted a block then added a line to the dwg, selected both and rotated and then scaled to correct size etc.

Then I noticed the drawing window had become rather grey and dull and when I tried to save the dwg it said I couldn't save which Refedit was still active. (probably not exact words)

My query is what I did to get to that state?
I imagine I must have clicked something, but nothing untoward happened in my select, scale and rotation.
Just curious if someone knows what I may have done.

  • You must have double clicked the block - that starts Refedit. You can't save the file while in there.

Any changes you make to the block are then reflected in every occurrence in the file if they are saved on typing Refclose or picking one of Refedit's 5 menu icons (Add to, Subtract from, Discard changes or Save changes).

    It's a very useful command.

  • Thanks John
yes that sounds right - double click. (I'm a bit heavy on the mouse sometimes!)
I didn't have a clue what to do and thankfully the message about Refedit at least gave me a clue to look in help.

    I can appreciate its usefulness.
