Masked Text

Hi ,

I have recieved plans from an autocad user with masked text,

Some is text & some Mtext,

When I do a print all the masked text comes out fully obscured in black?

If I turn off a layer called Wipeout I lose the mask on the text only, Mtext is still obscured.

If I change the colour of Wipeout from white to black I keep the mask & the text is not obscured, Mtext is still obscured.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

thanks

Peter Cooke

  • I use a routine called Mtwipe (isn't mine, but appears in a thread on the subject in this forum).

The mask appears/disappears individually selecting each Mtext, but the masks it makes are on the same layer as the mtext and I don't believe they print, from memory. That, or they are on layer Defpoints and don't appear in Properties.

Anyway, you can get rid of them and that's all I wanted to do. Nice idea, but has a few drawbacks.

  •  Are you running the latest version Peter?  There was a problem with this a few iterations ago but the problem has been fixed.  With respect to your findings with the two types of text.  The plain text elements clearly have a actual "wipeout" object behind them and these wipeouts are found on the wipeout layer which is why changing these properties only changes the Text objects.  Mtext on the other hand has its own background mask property which would need to be changed manual or through code to see any difference. --> select a piece of mtext, then in the property editor check out the Background Mask Property.  If you change this property to white and you notice a difference then you need to upgrade your Bricscad.  If you don't notice a difference you will probably have to file a support request unless someone else has other ideas.
