FIT to PRINT not Scaling Properly

Hi Guys,
I have an issue when printing using the fit to print option.

If I select a window area to print AND check the "Fit print area to size of page", the scaling factor is not calculated correctly.
It calculates something like 1mm to 1.00139 units and that is simple not enough to fit the image into the printable area. (The printed image is clipped on all the edges)

Now, if I manually adjust the scaling factor, just a little, for example to 1 mm to 1.02 units, it fits perfect within the margins of the printer. Some how the Bricscad is not calculating the adequate scale.

First I thought it could be due to a driver error (wrong ImageSize on the PPD definition) , but if I repeat the same procedure using Gimp, the Gimp manages the margins correctly, scaling the image to the printable area.

Any thoughts?

Cristobal

  •  Have you checked to see if this is true in both the vertical and horizontal axis? Sometimes printer calibration is off a bit and one axis may be correct while the other is off.
  • Hi S,
I have run several tests an I think that Briscad somehow is not "reading" the REAL ImageArea size from the PPD. It scales to a "default size of an A2 paper"
I created a PPD with a ridiculous small ImageArea (keeping the A2 paper size at 420x594) and the scaling factor still is almost 1 to 1. That shows that it is not reading the REAL image size from the selected PPD (printer), but some "default ImageSize" for that size of paper, like the standard ImageSize for an A2 papaer. Also If you then select A4 it will scale it down with a much bigger number (1 to 2.5) probably based on the "default ImageSize" for an A4 paper.

Tried this using the Cups-pdf printer. The scaling appeared to work ok. Selecting an area of the screen and selecting the "Fit print area to page" in the print dialogue worked. The preview fitted comfortably inside the page. I have not produced an actual hardcopy yet.
