Text Styles

Is there a way to have a text style where one can select a variety of text(s) and globally change everything but their orientation and perhaps their Justification?
I was looking for something simple as the _matchprop brush type of editing.
A custom one of those would be brilliant.

I know it can be done with some of the plugins, but its not straightforward unless I am missing something.

  • Hi Richard,

Have you tried using Quick Select via the Property Bar (Ctrl + 1)?
This would allow you to select a bunch of text, then modify their properties, such as style from the property bar. There are some videos on this in the Tutorial section.

  • Have you tried ddchtext.lsp/ddchtext.dcl?   The version I use is by Don J. Buschert (c) 1996 and has a notice that it is free to copy, modify, or use as long as the copyright notice is maintained.
  • Have you tried ddchtext.lsp/ddchtext.dcl?
No haven't and not sure where to obtain it. Did find a site but needed to create an account and so didn't go that path.

"Qick Select" looks excellent.  I haven't had time to follow it up other than the tutorial you posted - thanks and very helpful.
I'm busy on a project and will definitely learn more about that.

Is there a way to set a layer properties so all entities inserted or drawn in that layer take on its specified properties?
That way I could specify text size, colour, style (font used), but then have freedom to individually make changes to rotation, justification etc.  Things not specified in that 'Layer Properties' aren't fixed as those included in Layer Properties would be.
And I hope that entities copied from another layer would then take on the copied-to layer properties.

My CAD knowledge is lacking (used to graphics packages) and limited use of CAD in surveying program.
  • ddchtext.lsp/ddchtext.dcl is available AUGI.COM.  They do require a free signup, but it is a site that is safe and a recommended source.
