Previous selection incopatibility

In earlier versions of Bricscad (10) and actual version of AutoCad, selection made on start of an command is considered as previous after command is finished, regardless to any selection made during the second part of the command (commands like Trim, Extend and like, where one first selects cutting edges or else, and then selects entities on which to perform the command). Now, there is a bug because previous selection depends on selection made in second part of command (once it is cutting edge, another time cut elements).

I have made a support request on 26. July 2011.

Almost a year passed away, new version of BC (12) arrived, 22 revisions completed and I can't see any light at the end of this tunnel. And again I have to ask for some help from other members of Bricscad community to solve this problem.

My support request that contains detailed explanation and BC answer (Louis Verdonck) are shown below.

Louis Verdonck 2011-07-26 14:58
I agree, the Acad approach is more logical, if you trim or extend a series of entities, it makes no sense to delete those entities in the next operation. In such case the previous selection should be the cutting edges or boundary entities. I will forward your request to our developers.

Nenad Bikicki 2011-07-26 13:38
Could you be so kind to reconsider a way BC "decides" which entities are considered as previously selected after completion of the command?

You should try this simple example.

Draw two vertical lines. Then draw the third, horizontal line that crosses both lines.

1. Start command Trim. Select two vertical lines as cutting edges. Then select the horizontal line to be trimmed. Finish the Trim command. Start Erase command and use "p" parameter to use the previous selection. Vertical lines are selected. OK.

Undo previous sequences.

2. Start command Trim again. Now select horizontal line as cutting edge. Then select both vertical lines to be trimmed using crossing selection. Finish the Trim command. Start Erase command and use "p" parameter to use the previous selection again. Vertical lines are selected!?

Undo previous sequences.

3. Start command Trim again. Select horizontal line as cutting edge. Then select one vertical line to be trimmed. Finish the Trim command. Start Erase command and use "p" parameter to use the previous selection again. Horizontal line is selected.

In earlier versions of Bricscad (10) and actual version of AutoCad, selection made on start of an command (in my example cutting edges for trim command) is considered as previous after command is finished, regardless to any selection made during the second part of command (selected entities to be trimmed).

I can`t say when exactly this bug appeared, but it is kind of a very long time.

Sincerely,

Nenad Bikicki

 • Development team shall really look at this (and I have added this a support request), cause if we try to mimic ACAD as close as possible, this kind of behavior is unacceptable.
